Applied Speciation facilitates lysimetry studies to quantify contaminant fate and transport as well as treatment methods using real world conditions. Percolation of simulated or real world rainwater and runoff water through a soil column can provide insight into how stratified soil columns can impact the mobility of contaminants as well as identify the capacity of the system to naturally attenuate.
Lysimetry can also be used to identify the efficacy of pump and treat methods prior to field implementation which can save significant time and money. Lysimetry is not applicable to all situations.
