Applied Speciation supports the development of clean energy technologies; however, the energy demands of today exceed the availability and costs associated with eliminating fossil fuels. Applied Speciation works closely with energy providers facilitating combustion of fossil fuels for power generation to mitigate the contaminants inherent in the processes.
Coal, oil, and natural gas each present discrete sets of challenges for characterization and remediation of trace metals and mercury from waste. Services at Applied Speciation support the testing of source materials, intermediate waste streams, and effluents to follow the contaminants from cradle to grave. With our capacity to properly characterize combustion byproducts using speciation techniques we can achieve a better understanding of the interaction of contaminants with treatment technologies on a molecular basis. Applied Speciation’s ability to test the source materials can also be used to alert energy providers regarding the quality of product before combustion which can be applied for cost analysis of their product as well as anticipation of treatment failures before they happen.
Applied Speciation is currently working to expand our services to
support the needs of clean energy as well through surface testing,
semiconductor analyses, and long term system failure analyses.
As custodians of this planet and leaders in the field of
analytical chemistry we are working with industry to meet the
current and future energy demands of our world.
