A: Certain chromium compounds, like chromium oxide powder, are so stable they require heating to 1000C using a muffle furnace to bring them into solution.

A: While the proton associated with HF can discolor the skin the fluoride ion permeates through the epidermal layer. The fluoride ion then travels into the body until it reaches bone and dissolves it forming calcium fluoride.

A: The detoxification mechanisms and capacity can vary significantly between organisms. Selenium can bioaccumulate and may be passed onto offspring which induces mutations during the formative stages of growth.

Q: You can achieve detection limits for total Hg below 1ng/L with no interferences for a fraction of the cost?
A: Unfortunately this is not possible using existing EPA Methods. Different technologies such as FI-CV-ICP-MS can achieve pg/L detection limits with minimal or no interferences.
